About Our Staff

Ann Sawin

I first started quilting when I started working at Parkland Parish. I was originally going to do just computer work, but I quickly decided that I had to start sewing!  I love working here at The Parish and I adore our customers! They are all like second moms and grandmas. The happiness and fun conversation they bring with them brighten up each work day! And, it doesn’t hurt working for your mother in law!!!

My first quilt was made in 1989 using an Eleanor Burns “Quilt in A Day” Log Cabin pattern.  My favorite quilt block is the LeMoyne Star which I like to make it using the method that Bethany Reynolds developed with no inset seams!
Working at Parkland Parish is so inspiring!  Our customers and staff make it a fun and vibrant place to work and play.
To me, the best thing about being at the Parish is helping someone else create something beautiful and I love to be a part of that process. I hope that when our customers come through our front door,  they feel like our friends.
Debbie was born in Des Moines, Iowa and came to Washington while serving in the United States Army.  She met her husband Ken at Ft Lewis, WA and they were married in 1977.  Her daughter Erin currently serves in the United States Army and daughter Abigail will marry to her soldier soon.
